Ghostbusters Move Aside – I Ain’t Afraid of No Dust After Getting a Bagless Vac!

My dear departed mother back in the old country used to talk of “doing the hoovering” even though I don’t think my father’s bank salary would actually stretch to a Hoover vacuum cleaner. We always had one of the cheaper makes to keep the south London homestead spick and span.

I well remember the choking dust after she had emptied the bag directly into the outside bin. Happy days!

Vacuum cleaners were invented and first came to market in the early 1900s but little changed in their essential technology though the price came down so that everyone could afford one.

In the 1980s the first bagless vacuum cleaners appeared on the market firstly thanks to Dyson. These have improved greatly over the years and are now a viable alternative for home use as well as those who own commercial properties.

We emigrated to Australia and opened a small factory. These days we use bagless vacs to keep everything clean because there are so many advantages.

These babies have almighty suction power and a very long life motor and, importantly for health and safety, have added levels of hygiene compared to using bags.

For a business in particular, they are cost saving and convenient. Not having to replace bags frequently is a major boon especially in environments where they fill up quickly. This all saves money over time.

They are easier to empty than bags and don’t spread the dust you’ve already worked hard to suck up all over the place. Sure, you need to be careful about the emptying part. Filtration adds to the hygiene.

Visibility is also a key advantage – how often do you use a bag vacuum but you don’t know when it’s full. With the glass sided bagless vacs you can tell instantly when it needs emptying. They represent a great business idea.

Seeing our cleaner use one at the factory got me thinking about home use and I am now the proud owner of my own personal backpack bagless vacuum cleaner. My mum would be proud!

Rather than let the wife or one of the older children do what I still call “the hoovering” in memory of my mum, I actually enjoy the work.

Strap it on your back and you feel like Bill Murray in the original Ghostbusters – when the neighbours see me getting the cobwebs down from the carport or wherever I can’t resist saying in my best New York accent tinged with plummy Brit:

“I ain’t afraid of no dust!”

Hoovering was never like this. They come with a large variety of attachments and tools conforming to all business standards.

And one more thing if you’re not convinced yet – with no waste from throwing away countless bags they represent an appropriate and sustainable modern-day alternative.

So why not go dust-busting today!
